Mission Zambia's 5 Year Project

5 years to Universal Free Education

In 2000 the UK government set out it's proposals for the new millennium. Among them was the policy fighting for universal education for all regardless of gender, location or class. They wanted gender inequality to be removed by 2005 and universal free education available by 2015.

Mission Zambia was established in 2013 with the aim of achieving free education for all the children of Mwandi over the next five years. We hope in the future to extend this to other areas of Zambia.

Improving access to education is not a simple task. In Mwandi there are many children being brought up without adequate shelter. This lack of stability makes it difficult to bring these children into the education system, and very difficult to keep them in education. For this reason one of Mission Zambia's aims is to provide housing for all children in Mwandi.

Encouraging good teachers to come to rural areas is difficult, especially if they are not offered adequate pay and housing. We are aiming to attract more teachers to Mwandi by addressing these issues.

Finally the school itself is not currently big enough to support all the children of the village. We are looking to build a new block to ensure there is always enough facilities for the number of children. We will be looking at sponsorship for children who are bright enough to attend the secondary school and will be aiming to make the primary school free for all children.

This is a long term project, and we appreciate the support of our fundraisers. If you are looking to do some fundraising for Mission Zambia please contact us and we can support you every step of the way.
