PROJECTS

House Building

When Project Mwandi first began it's initial aim was to provide shelter to families in Mwandi who didn't have access to safe housing. This is still the main aim of Project Mwandi and Mission Zambia.

We appreciate all of our volunteers and donations.

Kandiana

Katherine is one of the most amazing people you will ever meet. She single handedly runs the care home serving the whole of Mwandi, caring for the elderly, cooking, cleaning and working hard to make their time there as comfortable as possible. She always welcomes new volunteers!

United Church Mission Hospital

The outpatients department at the mission hospital in Zambia sees around 70 patients a day, many come for HIV/AIDs check ups and repeat prescriptions which are all managed by the hospital Pharmacy. There is also a labour 'ward' attached to the Hospital which sees many births each week.

The hospital is always looking for new volunteers and welcomes all the help they can get!

The teaching and learning centre

The local nursery/pre-school designed for children aged between 5 and 7 runs two sessions each day. Places at the pre-school are funded by parents. The school is always looking for willing volunteers looking to help out in class, teach some english songs and help prepare worksheets. The official language of Zambia is English, but many children in the village will only speak Losi, the local tribal language. They must learn english if they are to attend high school so it's important they start young!
